So Poncho dropped 50 Points last night on 33% from long-range and 68% from the FT line...
...and YET there are still some posters on this board who believe Jordan couldN't average 40 a night in this weak/soft-ass league.

You don’t watch the sport anymore and should honestly just stop talking about it.

I watch highlight clips, and check out the box scores... and if certain posters can use fake stats to "guess" how so-and-so would perform in today's weak/soft NBA, then TDK can certainly use the actual "factual" numbers to draw conclusions, thank you very much.
Fact is Poncho dropped 50 on below-average 3PT and FT shooting, basically doing all his damage from 22 feet in, which is where MJ dominated in an era where players were actually allowed to play tough, physical Defense... proving beyond a doubt that Mike would average 40 a game if he played in the Modern Era.

33% from long range + 68% from the FT line = 50 Points... what about that fact makes me clued-out, meatball?_Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:28 pmHe has no idea just how clued out he is. Ignorance is bliss.

Would this be a bad time to point out Paolo averaged 23 a game last year with basically the same skillset (he took 26 shots + 22 free throws worth of possessions last night)?

What's relevant is Poncho took a whopping 9 long-range shots at a (below league-average) 33% clip, and 22 FT's (in a weak/soft Defensive era) at a well below-average 68% clip... yet he still dropped 50 on just 26 FGA.
Would this be a bad time to remind you/others just how EASY it is for players (with HALF the talent/skills/athleticism of Jordan) to score big-time points in today's NBA?

You must be another fake-stats guy... those arbitrary formulas using random numbers/calculations are much more credible than the actual/factual numbers I read from the boxscore, eh?LNS wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:41 pmYea… that’s not how that works.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:30 pm…proving beyond a doubt that Mike would average 40 a game if he played in the Modern Era.

How did that even come remotely close to making sense in your tiny little brain before you hit Submit?thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:50 pmYou must be another fake-stats guy... those arbitrary formulas using random numbers/calculations are much more credible than the actual/factual numbers I read from the boxscore, eh?LNS wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:41 pmYea… that’s not how that works.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:30 pm

I don't think too many posters here would deny Jordan could average in the mid 20s in the modern game, with the random mega-scoring game thrown in here and there.
The point about shots/possessions was a friendly hint (since you don't watch games and don't have the IQ to interpret or contextualize statistics) that he sucked up a completely abnormal amount of shots and possessions.
Jordan isn't getting up 26 shots and 22 free throws a game in 2024.

Stop. MJ puts up at least 29-33ppg. I swear there’s no middle ground with you people. Either MJ would be a bball god averaging 40-10-10 or he’d be a borderline All Star barely cracking 25ppg lolBush4Ever. wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:52 pmI don't think too many posters here would deny Jordan could average in the mid 20s in the modern game, with the random mega-scoring game thrown in here and there.

Dude dropped 50 on just 26 FGA despite shooting below-average on 3's and well below-average on FT shooting. How did he do it?
Exactly... he scored in the same manner Jordan did on a regular basis, only Jordan shot 84% from the line.
In other words Poncho's game last night was an average night for Jordan when you adjust for the fact that he played in a tougher, more physical league. Thus, if Poncho was able to drop 50 then it stands to reason Mike would easily average 40 for a season.
Discuss why this upsets you to your very core?
