Saw The Two Towers in IMAX tonight
I'm an 'extended is canon' guy, but I have to say, throwing it back to the theatrical edition was crazy. The pacing is so tight and high energy, there is not a single wasted moment or 'bathroom scene,' maybe you get there with the Aragorn-Arwen stuff but otherwise it's 100% quotable and memorable. You feel a couple of things missing like the Boromir flashback and the 'you've shown your quality, the very highest' but I understand why they arrived at the theatrical cut. It's the fastest 3 hours imaginable, they just don't make them like that anymore, it is a 10/10 masterpiece. It kind of makes me second guess my longstanding belief that Fellowship is the strongest of the three. I mean it probably is the best pure movie, but there is way more down time too.

It’s easily the best of the three.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 2:55 am I'm an 'extended is canon' guy, but I have to say, throwing it back to the theatrical edition was crazy. Hearing how Jackson used the old movie “Zulu” as his guide was great.
