Odom, Horry, Zo, Reggie and many others EXPOSE the weak/soft NBA of today...
The BWGC, LeTots and Modern Era fans will quickly dismiss this as "former players protecting their era" BUT the BWGC, LeTots and Modern Era fans simply canNot refute a single word that these former players say because it's 100% fact... as even the current NBA Commissioner, VP of Ops, and many current players/coaches agree as well.
Today's NBA is soft and weak... and I think it's time we all accept this fact:

"Today's NBA is soft, the Defense is weak, and the rules 'really' favor the Offense."
"Lebron doesn’t guard for a full game and our game plan was to get him to play defense and he left me open all game."

The modern era literally shits on the old eras. That’s not up for debate. What’s up for debate is when derps try to pretend the older players* couldn’t adapt and learn how to adjust to modern rules.
*except for Bill Russell who would still be the best defender in the league

Why are Modern Era fans in such denial...
This is not TDK making stuff up... this is the "current" NBA Commissioner, the "current" VP of Ops, many "current" players and coaches AND (per the clip in the OP) many former players going on record to call today's Defense "soft and weak" (relative to the 90's) with rules in place that heavily favor Offense.
Hey, I get it if you think soft/weak Defense and one-dimensional Offense is exciting to watch. So be it... but at the same time you can't ignore what the actual experts say about today's NBA and expect to be taken seriously.

No one who actually watches the nba would say offenses are one dimensional.

Both offenses and defenses are so far advanced relative to the 90s, that is comical to see it argued otherwise. Literally half of the 90s players could not make a roster today. They just couldn't.

If it was not for H.S. and college bringing the 3 point shot into the game in the late 80's and brining in the European players during the 90's that could shoot the 3, todays NBA would not be the league it is today._Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 12:11 pmBoth offenses and defenses are so far advanced relative to the 90s, that is comical to see it argued otherwise. That definitely is a big part of it. In general though, around the globe, players have gotten more skilled and generally more fit. You just rarely see a bunch of essentially out of shape guys, or guys who can barely move up and down the court like you did back then. Oliver Millers and his ilk just can't play anymore because they would get eaten alive trying to defend the screen and roll. You couldn't hide them. So many more players can handle the rock now and shoot off the dribble almost as effectively as spotting up. It's a better product.Da Stars. wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 1:52 pmIf it was not for H.S. and college bringing the 3 point shot into the game in the late 80's and brining in the European players during the 90's that could shoot the 3, todays NBA would not be the league it is today._Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 12:11 pmBoth offenses and defenses are so far advanced relative to the 90s, that is comical to see it argued otherwise. Both. Talented kids are streamed earlier and imitate their heroes and between those things, they are more skilled. Freaking 6 year olds have better handles than Bob Cousy did.Da Stars. wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 3:41 pmHigher skilled, or better coaching?_Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 3:16 pmThat definitely is a big part of it. The difference really plays out on offense, where the skill level is markedly better and continues to improve.
Defense is somewhat different since the most important factors there tend to be athleticism and IQ. Sidney Moncrief, before his knee injury was a great defender, as good as the game had seen for the shooting guard position. He would be an outstanding defender today. There is no doubt about that. Offensively, that is much harder to tell. How those skills transfer is much more guesswork as opposed to defense.

It's quite hilarious that grizz thinks he knows better than the "current" NBA Commissioner, the "current" NBA VP of Ops, and a plethora of "current" (and former) NBA players and coaches.

As noted: No matter how much you kick and scream AND deflect, the fact remains you do not know better about the "current" NBA than the "current" NBA Commissioner, the "current" NBA VP of Ops, and a plethora of "current" (and former) NBA players and coaches.
Hell, you still believe Bill Russell is the GOAT (LOL) and would still play at that same level in today's NBA (LOLOL), so needless to say your opinion on the sport not only clashes directly with the real experts (ie; the players, coaches and league itself) but it's also laughable to anyone with a BB IQ above 10.
Sit this one out, old man.
