If there was ever a year to maximize "okay" play into a playoff series win, its this year.
Playing the Knicks or Cavs after a Philly tailspin and feasting on soft teams in a conference with maybe 1.5 high-level teams would be about as generous as it gets for their level of ability.
Bush and company are highly triggered by the magic being a playoff team and the fact tgey will be better every year and in their faces for the foreseeable future with many years of contending ahead.
So they act like this season is the end goal and 1 year window

It's not, and I literally said this year is almost maximally perfect for a mediocre team like the Magic to win a playoff series, given the weakness of the East, the tailspin of Philly, and the clustering in the bottom half of the playoff seeding.
