Caitlin Clark is good for business. I watched the entire game.

Iowa’s 71-69 win against UConn in Friday’s NCAA Final Four game drew 14.2 million viewers, the most in women’s college basketball history, according to ESPN.

The matchup produced the highest audience for a basketball game — college or professional — and the second-best non-football telecast ever on the network.

Friday’s figure is higher than every World Series and NBA Finals game last year. ESPN said the game peaked at 17 million viewers.

Iowa vs. UConn bested a viewership record set just days prior when the Hawkeyes defeated LSU in the Elite Eight on Monday with 12.3 million viewers.

South Carolina’s dominant 78-59 win against NC State in the previous Final Four game peaked at 9 million viewers. ESPN said the 2024 Final Four’s 10.8 million average viewership is up 138% year-over-year.

A good finish. I can understand why people were upset with the late call, but she did slide, and her arm was out.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the Marshall is a former soccer player and sold it a little.
Tomorrow should be good. I’ll be rooting for Iowa, but SC is a very talented team.

Who made the awful decision to put the women's championship game on at 3:00 EST? Why would this not be on tonight?

I know someone who didn't win the title rarely gets MOP of the tourney, but Zach Edey put up 29.5/14.5 in his 6 games. A 30-20 in the opening round, 40 in the Elite 8 and 37 last night.

For the first time, the NCAA women's basketball championship outdrew the men.

UConn's 75-60 victory over Purdue in Monday night's men's final on TBS and TNT averaged 14.82 million viewers, according to Nielsen. That was not enough to surpass the 18.87 million who watched South Carolina defeat Caitlin Clark and Iowa in Sunday afternoon's women's final on ABC and ESPN.

Monday night's audience was a 4% increase over last year's final between the Huskies and San Diego State on CBS. The number likely dropped off during the second half when UConn took control to become the first repeat champion since Florida in 2007.

The two men's semifinal games averaged 12.8 million. UConn-Alabama attracted 14.18 million, and the game between Purdue and NC State averaged 11.45 million. Friday night's women's semifinal games averaged 10.8 million, with the Iowa-UConn game averaging 14.2 million.

The 67 games of the men's tournament across CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV averaged 9.9 million viewers, a 3% increase over last year. This year's tournament benefited from more blue-blood and power conference programs advancing beyond the first weekend.
