Just watched the first 5 minutes of this NBA Finals game. ANY time a defender made contact with an offensive player.....the whistle was blown. Other than that, it was some guards getting layups....or uncontested mid-range jumpers.

Gee rob, that's great... 5 minutes of one (1) game is supposed to define an entire decade.



It would be better if you just admitted you didn't watch the NBA in the 90's, and leave it at that.

You're watching with your eyes closed then, if you actually think the league is just as/more physical today than it was in the 90's... and you don't have to take my word for it, just listen to the NBA Commish, the VP of Ops, and many current players/coaches, who recently confirmed that the NBA today is soft and the Defense is weak (by virtue of the fact that the rules in place heavily favor Offenses).

Thus, your beef should be with Silver (for turning the NBA soft and weak) not me.

Like I said, watch the games. Come up with an original thought.

Of course Defense gets better as the game progresses (and pressure and emotions intensify) vs. the opening minutes of a new series with a new opponent, when teams are in the "feeling each other out" process.

Already wwatched them all... and as noted, the league in the 90's was much more physical and tougher, and defense played much more consistently than today... again, even the league itself (along with current players and coaches) admitted Defense today is weak and soft.

I'd rather watch a random 90's playoff game than attempt to stomach this god Awful modern era of NBA basketball, it's an unwatchable product with a bunch of boring athletes that have no fundamentals and don't know how to defend. From that to the terrible terrible officiating the game only appeals to low IQ NBA simps.

I mean, how many times can you watch teams MISS 65% of the shots that make up 40-50% of their Offense withOut hitting the snooze button, not to mention the boatloads of (Parting of the Rea Sea) layups/dunks that take place because the Bigs are 30 feet away chuckin' bombs instead of protecting the basket.



You can go into any YMCA today and watch a pick-up game, and it'll be no different than watching today's NBA... except I think even the guys in the gym play better Defense than the pros these days.

PS: The league shot higher than that throughout the entire decade of the 80's. In fact, 10 of the top 11 all-time highest FG% seasons belong to the 80's, including the Top 6 spots. So are we to conclude that the players from the 80's were better and more skilled than today's players??? If not, then you have no point.

Shooting the same percentage while taking shots at average 10-15 feet further from the basket is IMPRESSIVE AS FUCK.
