Got lucky dodging some COVID infections...

Typically Christmas dinner is at my house and we have people from both sides of the family in town. Usually 20-25 people or so. My wife's family comes down from New Jersey, my local family and some of my family from North Carolina come, and we all hang out for 5-7 hours.

With COVID fucking things up this year, we decided to keep things smaller for Christmas dinner. My wife's family was still coming down, so we simply had dinner with them and told my family (whom I'd had Thanksgiving with) that we didn't want the big crowd, for obvious reasons.

Well THAT was a great idea!!!!

Turns out my aunt went down to North Carolina to spend Christmas morning with my cousin's family.....then came back to VA and had dinner with my other cousin's family. My North Carolina cousin's wife and one of his kids have now tested positive.....along with my aunt, who got it from them......and then she brought it up and handed it off to the Virginia family.

The downside is that my Aunt (elderly), cousin's mom (elderly) and my cousin's husband's sister (cancer survivor) are all possibly susceptible to COVID doing some serious damage. Scary stuff...

Do you have a preexisting condition or are you the size of Chris Christie? Otherwise you could have easily shaken off the China sniffles, so this wasn't your luckiest moment.

I'd be fine. Had I passed it on to my mom, or my coworkers....or anyone else. That could have been quite bad.

UPDATE:

The aunt that was the back-and-forth carrier is in the hospital with pneumonia and blood clots in the lungs. Doesn't sound good...she's 69.

All others that had/have it seem to be doing fine.
