HOF player.
GREAT coach.
Solid GM.

And I recently learned that he actually tried to be an NBA owner back in 2002 (Charlotte).

Remember when in the middle of a game where Bird was outscoring Dr. J 43 - 6... Erving tried to fight Bird?

He’s the only person to win MVP, COY, and Executive of the Year.

He has the 5th best winning % all time for NBA coaches. Top 10 all-time player. Successful at every level.

GOAT NBA career.

This was the incident I used to try to explain to my kids just how competitive (being gracious) or how much of an asshole (being slightly less gracious) Bird was. He got Dr J, maybe the coolest of the cool OGs, to take a swing at him.

Happy birthday to the Legend.

Erving had 6 points on 3/13 shooting.

Bird had 42 points on 17/23 shooting in just 30 minutes.

LMAO indeed.

I remember the overrated Bird getting punched in the face repeatedly by the Doctor. Performing surgery on Bird's ugly mug.

Larry was a great player. If he were black he would have been one of the 50 greatest ever. Because he was white he was only one of the 50 greatest

“The Hick From French Lick”

Isn’t that a little too on the nose as far as nicknames go?

You just know back in the ‘80s everybody thought that this was some kinda epic GOAT-tier nickname.

It was a simpler time.
