Barkley, most here don't remember the beast that was prime Barkley. Dirk is fresher in the minds.

To me both career value and peak/prime value are close enough that I would want to get down into the nitty-gritty of analytics and scouting to see if they pointed me in one direction or another.

At least that's what my eye-test/gut would tell me.

Tough I want to say Dirk but there is a lot of things peak Barkley does well. I think leadership is the deciding factor and Dirk is the superior.

Dirk led a bunch of nobodies to an NBA championship over the Heatles.

Barkley failed to make the NBA finals with super loaded teams.

Dirk.
Much longer career at a high level. Much harder worker. Ring. MVP/Finals MVP. Extremely accurate. Greatest foreign NBA player ever.

Barkley was a beast and better defensively.

Barkley never ring-chased with super loaded teams. Lebron started that trend!!!

Would you really call the Rockets teams super-loaded?

Barley/Drexler/Hakeem were about 33-34 at the *start* of their partnership. 33-34 in that era was fairly advanced.

Or do you mean the Suns teams that followed 1993 (where they lost to the title Rockets in seven game series)?

I'll take Dirk, but Barkley had some insane playoff runs late 80s/early 90s. He's also the better rebounder and passer. Feel like Dirk played against tougher conference playoff foes than Chuck had to.

Kinda shows you how cream puff soft players back then were then IMO. Those dudes all joined the league at 21-22 years old, not 18-19. And those BANS were considered “fairly advanced”?

The year before they joined in Houston all 3 were all-stars.....Barkley and Hakeem were All-NBA.....and Hakeem was All-defense. Drexler was coming off a 19/7/6 season. They were 33, 33 & 34.

The Celtics Big 3, comparatively, were 30, 32 & 32 when they won their title.
