Anybody make a GOAT list recently?

Post by FPL »

I'm thinking of doing one this offseason, haven't done one in a long time.

How deep do most of you go? A good cutoff to me seems to be only ranking guys who can win as the clear-cut best player on their team.

The main problem with this approach is that it's going to penalize very, very good second banana/support types, but I think if you start comparing apples to oranges like that there are plenty of bad decisions to make, and not many good ones.

1. Jordan
2. Russell
3. Kareem
4. LeBron (probably will enter the top 3 soon)
5. Magic
6. Duncan
7. Bird
8. Wilt
9. Shaq
10. Kobe
11. Hakeem

After that it gets harder for me. Curry and Durant are ascending fast, although I must admit I don't view KD's rings in the same regard as say LeBron's Cavs ring or Jordan's 6th ring where it seemed he was operating on fumes and instinct.

Each ring has weight based on the level of competition, level of help, and meaning of the title in general.

Good list.

LeBron is not one of them

If you have to ask you shouldn't be commenting on the sport... :L

I take EVERYTHING into account when ranking players, personally. Bird has ZERO top 10 finishes in career points, career rebounds, and career assists. He has ZERO stat based awards (no scoring/assist/rebounding titles). He has only THREE measly All Defensive 2nd Team selections (ZERO 1st Team selections).

I get that his career was cut short, but that’s too bad so sad. In his prime he was as good as anyone, but he didn’t accomplish enough to garner a high All Time ranking IMO.

Durant is probably the only one imo that would have a case. Assuming we already consider LeBron is already there

And he did that in someone elses era...Had Bird come along in any other era other than the Showtime Laker era, those numbers probably double...

We know, mama's boy... go clean some toilets, and leave the hoops discussion to the rest of us.

Uhhh... okay? If the Celtics weren’t around Magic probably wins more rings and retires the GOAT.

TDK posts... mama's boy comes running, no matter what time of day.

But seriously, only an idiot OR someone who is completely clueless when it comes to hoops questions Bird's place in history.

Your place in this board’s history is “the board faggot”.

I ruined what was left of your rep here.

You’re welcome. :D
