You haven't watched Morant enough. He is a LOT more than just flash. He knows how to break down a defense already and create really well for others and finish really well already. He's going to be a star.
I have seen him plenty...he is a fantastic player. But really, what does he do better than Tyler besides dunk? Morant is in more of a classic PG position, so his assist numbers are going to be higher, but Tyler passes well too. Herro was putting numbers up off the bench as a 19 year old for most of the season, and we have already seen him elevate his game in the playoffs.
At worst, if the league redrafted right now, Tyler might be the 3rd pick. Dude is gonna be special.
I'm not going to talk trash about Herro. He's a good player and can shoot the rock and is not afraid of the moment. Your assessment of 3rd overall might be right. I'd have to go back and look at the draft again.

But he's not Ja. He doesn't have his handle, doesn't have his court vision, doesn't have his ability to break down defenders and doesn't have his ability to finish at the rim. He's a better shooter than Ja, but the rest of the package doesn't match up.

Morant is a better point guard than Herro...fair enough...But Tyler has great handles, he can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim too...they are different players who get the job done in different ways...
Morant has the luxury of being given the keys to a franchise, whereas Tyler is on an NBA finals team...Not the same opportunities right now...But, it is easy to see what this kid is going to become...

I generally agree with all of that. I would say though, that Morant getting the keys to the franchise is a bit of a double edged sword. Especially with JJJ missing a lot of time and there not being another great offensive option, he got a ton of defensive attention, especially in crunch time.

One of my least favourite Grizzlies of all time (Shareef Abdur Rahim) got the same treatment and absolutely could virtually NEVER come through in crunch time. Ja came through more often in his rookie season than Shareef did in his whole tenure as a Grizzlie.

It’s nearly impossible to defend a 3 point shot “well” without fouling these days.

Great game with a back and forth ending. Monster games from Lebron and Butler.

What a game. AD was clearly hobbled at the end there too.
