So answer the question. What is each player's total shooting% in the playoffs? I'll be waiting. Thanks.
Dirk - 58
Malone - 53
There's not a lot of significance in that though as Malone's best playoff season is better than Dirk's.
There is a HUGE amount of significance to that. Even in your lame trolling mode you can't claim that nonsense with a straight face.
Again Dirk was the better shooter, which is why he has the huge leads in 3pt and FT percentage. Taking into pure field goal percentage Malone .463, Nowitzki .461.

Just saying.
True, but that's also selective sampling. Malone's career numbers combined with longevity, along with 4 More All-Defensive Teams than Dirk put him above.

Da Bulls had a chance to draft Malone in the 85 draft but chose Oakley over him.
Imagine if Jordan and Malone played together on the same team for 10+ years.

he gets the most insanely silly boost in his ranking because of that championship. What's not questionable is the fact that Dirk for his whole career has been the better scorer with more longevity. Dirk at 35 is still dropping 20 a game on almost 50% shooting. Robinson at in his late stages was a rebounder and defensive specialist riding Duncan to championships.
Was dirk the better scorer? He averaged a whopping 1 ppg more (on a worse percentage) despite not having to share the ball with a duncan and Robinson has the highest single season average between the two. Sure dirk has two more all NBA teams, but you just casually glossed over the 8-0 advantage Robinson has as far as defensive teams go. Dirk was good, but as that link shows Robinson had better years scoring, passing, rebounding, and especially defensively, I gotta go with the admiral
Dirk's longevity is a lot better than Robinson's. His still a dangerous offensive weapon. And Robinson having to share with Duncan is kind of irrelevant since he couldn't be a number 1 option at that point anyway.
On top of the fact that for of D-rob's greatness his simply fell short in the postseason way too often. Dirk didn't and has dominant lead dog title to further prove that point.
Was D-rob the more complete player, sure but this isn't like a hakeem vs. dirk comparison, where on top of being a superior player to dirk, he also has the resume to show for it, something Robinson or malone simply don't have.

I mean in the interest of fairness Dirk lost in the 1st round 7 times. With all respect to him I don't believe he's better than Malone and Robinson...... or even Barkley for that matter.

D-rob's missed it 5 times but he's also straight up missed the playoffs more than Dirk. He missed the playoffs in his prime, which never happened to Dirk. On top of that Dirk has that lead dog ring to show for it. Robinson doesn't. And they both played in the tough western conference, so dont bring that up.

You do know that the Spurs missed the playoffs that year because Robinson was injured and only played 6 games all season, right?
BTW, that was the only season that his team ever missed the playoffs.

Forgot about that. Thats true. However Dirk's longevity has propelled to a longer career and more playoff appearances.
Also 3 of his 7 first round exits have in the last 3 trips he's had were he was way past his prime where as Robinson got lucky, Spurs got Timmy and the rest is history.

At the peak of their games Robinson and Malone also were more dominant then Dirk at his.
I couldn't stand David Robinson in his prime but I do feel that some of the criticism that he's gotten for his playoff failures has gotten a bit out of hand. Clearly his efficiency dropped overall from the regular season but he was still a force defensively and usually grabbed more rebounds.
Dirk was a more consistent playoff performer for sure. He also has the better longevity.
At their best, I don't believe that Dirk was better than D-Rob on either side of the ball, which is why I am leaning towards Robinson.
elmouse03 wrote:I will say D-Rob. Before Duncan arrived he was one of the best players in the league. Scoring champ and mvp.
I agree, he seems to get lost in the discussion due to no "lead dog rings" and the playoffs where he won his MVP. Outside of that he was fantastic and a stat monster in every area.
As for this round individual accomplishments seem to favor Malone
Talent - Robinson
Success - Wade
Longevity - Malone (although you can make a case that can be tied together to individual accomplishments)
And while Dirk isn't the most talented, didn't have the most success, doesn't have the most individual accomplishments or top level longevity, its safe to say he has a case for 2nd in most categories.

46% shooter in the playoffs without shooting 3s. Puke for a PF and part of the reason he had 9, count them, 9 first round exits.
Dirk had many 1st round exits (7) as well before finally breaking through in 2011, and he also wasn't the scoring machine, defender or as athletic as Malone.
Compare their total shooting % in the playoffs for me. Thanks.
