You are completely and totally wrong.

Thankfully, the general attitude associated with the movie is starting to die out...but there are still some holdovers from the old mindset.
Bush i'm not sure how many times I need to keep telling you that nobody took that movie seriously in comparison to real world martial arts.

You simply lack a historical understanding. This comment is absurd.

*Plenty* of people in the mid 80s (and somewhat beyond) interalized the ideas and behaviors presented in the Karate Kid.

I'm not saying it was the only cause for these things (people generally being lazy and stupid helps, as does the yearning for "magic" solutions to problems), but it did matter.

Movies transmit ideas to watchers of the movie. That's a pretty straightforward idea.

Now *today* the KK wouldn't fly near as much because MMA is a complete and total counterpoint to the silly shit in the movie. But back when it came out, that didn't really exist. That's why the ideas in the Karate Kid were able to run wild for a bit without challenge.

Spoiler alert: Being Asian does not grant you the ability to go 20 on 1 in a fight and win. Not even if you have 20 matches of one on one while the other guys all stand around with their thumb up their ass (even though they want you killed or whatever...they have enough honor to not bumrush you).

Bush's rubeness and trolling has grown extremely stale over the past while. Once upon a time, it was fun to watch.

This is just the latest example in the demise of Javier's online persona.

Nothing in this thread has been trolling from my end.

If you disagree, that's fine. I don't *really* care.

But it's not trolling simply because someone has a unique interpretation that you aren't able to refute.

I never once asked either of you (or Abe) to engage.

If you think it's "trolling", then don't respond. Problem solved.

The real issue is that you know I'm right and you don't have a serious rebuttal.

I am a 5x World Judo champion based on what I learned in Karate Kid.

I wasn't much into Karate Kid. But I like to think I'm a world-class fighter today. I only use The Claw and Big John Stud's Heart Punch as my weapons of choice.

I am right.

Seriously, it is one of those things where if you disagree, you don't understand the argument or you aren't informed. It's completely and totally obvious to anyone informed about martial arts circa the time the KK came out.

Me too, I can beat anyone in a fight now and i don't need any grappling garbage. I just do the leg kick off 1 foot and drop everyone that steps near me.

I honestly haven't read half of what you have been typing in this thread. I'm just telling you that nobody took that movie seriously as it compares to real life martial arts. That is what I'm saying and that is 100% correct. If you disagree i think you are either trolling like fuck or dumb as fuck.

When I was painting my fence a couple years ago, I had flash backs to what I learned in Karate Kid. Those brush strokes taught me how to block, and obviously proper form on my Crane kick.

Maybe we are getting our wires crossed because you and Deez can't distinguish martial arts techniques from martial arts philosophy or training philosophies.

I don't think they care.

I think you care way too much.

And that's the only entertaining part of this thread.

Spoiler alert: Movies are fake, and often hyperbolic as mutually understood between production and it's target market in order to draw inspiration and entertainment which extends beyond the details of grapple technique or fight sequence probabilities. The evolution in cinematography and its viewers have obviously progressed to a point of accountability as film critiquing has created a market for itself and tightened the screws on Hollywood. Some of us just don't take ourselves as seriously as these clowns, don't be one of those clowns.

I think your analysis of how much I care is probably flawed as well.

Right now, I'm running a program in SAS and drinking a flavored water drink out of a bottle. My facial expression has been unchanged for the last four hours or so. My heart rate increased by 2 beats per minutes during this discussion.
