Although I’d love Ohtani on cubs not sure how I feel. 60 million a year for 10-12 years for mostly a DH and maybe 3-4 years of 100ish inning pitching wise.

Have to wonder if that money is better spend getting two elite players or 3 upper tier players.
You essentially are getting 2 elite players if you sign him.

An ace who can lead your team in home runs.

I also think he makes so much sense at Wrigley.
But how long is he that two way player? Needing his 2nd TJ surgery by age 29 isn’t exactly great.

I’ll be pumped if we get him but gotta realize you are only getting that two way elite play for at most 25-35% of the contract length. The rest of the time he will be an extremely expensive DH.
He's so talented at both that he's worth the risk IMHO.

Even if he just becomes a top-level reliever instead of starter along with his bat.

Not a needle mover of a deal for the Phillies, just added long-term risk

Wasn't Ohtani already doing that with the Angels?

Not asking you specifically, just asking out loud.

Ohtani holding up hitters market. With how weird and annoying he is probably won’t make up his mind until January after the teams in contention go through his gauntlet to prove their loyalty to him.

It reminds me a little of that Durant free agency a few years back, where he only invited a certain amount of teams to make sales pitches. dance for him like trained little monkeys.

Would rather have Yamamoto. This offseason is Yamamoto or bust.

I'm still thinking Dodgers 10/600

IMO all the rest of this talk is noise to create hype before he just picks the other LA team.

Brewers give 19 year old 80 million dollars.

Yankees also got Verdugo from Boston who I don't mind taking a chance on despite a meh 2023 season.

I haven't believed it, but the Blue Jays are a "possibility". Doesn't add up to me, but it sure would be great.
