Jokic is a good help defender. He’s a shitty shot blocker and doesn’t have great lateral movement… so I agree elite bigs in the 80s/90s would get their numbers against him. Elite bigs today get their numbers against him.
Thanks for confirming my point... and guess what: In the 80's-00's he would be FORCED to defend other Centers in / around the paint because that's how the game was played.

In other words he'd get chewed up and spit out.

In fact, he'd be such a DEFENSIVE liability during that Era he might not even be a starter.
That’s what you took from that? If anything defending would be easier for him because he wouldn’t have to chase bigs to the 3pt line.

Your last line is some Artman autism shit. Be better.

A slow, soft, non-athletic Joker defending the best Centers in the ultra physical paint of the 80's-00's would get eviscerated... not even God himself would be able to save him from being thoroughly dominated.

And FTR, if Joker can "defend" the perimeter today what on earth makes you think the Bigs from Jordan's day couldn't??

Come on.. at least make sense with your retorts.

Also tdk: “Make sense with your retorts.”

Nice deflection.

Anyway, yes... make sense. Claiming Joker would have a easier time defending the Bigs in the 80's-00's is artman level stupid... and again, if he can defend the perimeter today then so could the Centers from Jordan's era. Easily.

Correct. And defend it they would! Leaving the lane wide open for slashers to make things happen after the greatest passing big man of all time finds the open man.

I think that takes us back to my initial post ITT... ie; how much easier it is Offensively today, which is why Joker's numbers are what they are. He's not putting up anywhere close to 10 dimes a game in Jordan's era because he wouldn't be on the perimeter.

So... I was right. Again.

Joker in MJ's era = prime Divac or Sabonis.

Joker, with his skill set, would be whoever he is. That's a big man that can pass and stretch the offense.

90's defenses wouldn't know what to do with him. That's a fact.

Such an easy concept to grasp if you aren't an autistic retard.

But it's even more than that. He's a generational talent as a passer. Best passing big ever by a decent margin. He can also efficiently score from EVERYWHERE on the floor, from the paint to outside the arc. He can put it on the deck better than 95% of centers who have ever played. He's an absolute unicorn.

Jokic is most definitely the best passing big ever.

He's the best passing non-guard ever.

I think he will be in the conversation for best overall passer ever eventually.

I wouldn’t put him above Magic, but I don’t know who is better than him after that

I think his overall resume could be better than Magic by the end. Longevity would be his argument if he stays healthy or doesn't randomly retire.

Dude is leading the league in rebounds and assists....is 4th in PPG....and is 2nd in 3-point FG%.

That is beyond wacky.

But he’d be such a liability on defense that he wouldn’t start in the 90s.

You seriously think he could start over Eric Montross? WTF is wrong with you?

We’ve already seen what jokic would be in the early 2000s, he’s basically just a taller fatter Luke Walton.

TDK, who hasn't watched the NBA during the entirety of Jokics prime is an expert on how he'd teleport vs the 90s? Lmao

Jack Sikma got 32 minutes a game in 1989, shooting as many threes a game back then as Joker does now, as a guy who grabbed eight rebounds and less than four assists a game, while shooting 45 percent on 2s (Joker was at 63 percent in 2024), and even blocking fewer shots per game than Joker did in 2024.

An Ethiopia-poor man's version of Joker got 32 minutes a game as a fading quality big in 1989.

But Joker...that guy is backing up Eric Montross and the immortal Matt Geiger. Somehow.
