I don’t know the financial breakdowns for the company’s game consoles, but I suspect Sony and Microsoft are slaughtering Nintendo. They have way more culturally relevant games.

Grand Theft Auto VI drops next year. Will be the biggest release in the history of the entertainment industry, earning more in one weekend than avengers end games entire theatrical run. That will move consoles.

Most game of the year winners are on real consoles. Baldurs gate 3, Elden ring, god of war. These games are bad ass and would look gay on switch

Nintendo won for Zelda. Zelda was the only excellent IP on Nintendo switch. And it could have been so much better with the modern graphics abilities of the other consoles.

I haven't bought a nintendo system since the GBA and don't miss it one bit, when Nintendo lost all their dev support I switched to Sony and never looked back. The switch will never surpass the PS2, the main reason why it sold so many is bc it's a hybrid console/handheld and its easy to port games to, even though spec wise Alot of games run like shit compared to Xbox and PS due to outdated/low end hardware. Truth is showing all 3 of these corporations are scummy, greedy pieces of shit that no longer deserve my money. Nintendo is shutting down ROM sites and trying to erase their own history so they can resell you shitty emulator versions of the games that have been on the Internet for decades, it's a shitty company that's living off of the same old IP's. Sony and Microsoft have both embraced woke ideology and ESG, the next gen is going to sink the industry.

I will say this will probably be the last gen of gaming I'll be participating in, since gaming is heading towards a very dark path for the consumer with paid subscription services and games that must be ran on proprietary servers that can be shut down anytime, not to mention you won't own any of the games your paying for.

xero you need to back off the ledge a little bit, so you never played Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Melee, Wind Waker, etc? Your logic regarding the Switch shitting on PS2 is also stupid, you don't get to dismiss Nintendo's all-time record because they were smart and innovated, and find me combined sales of a handheld and home console from the same brand that sold that many units in a 7-year span (you can't).

Nintendo is "living off" old ip's? If anything Nintendo is the only company that is still innovating old ip's, most people would consider Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild to be the strongest Mario and Zelda entries ever and both were massively innovative. Look at GTA for example, it's clear that 6 will be essentially a beefed up version of 5 (which was a beefed up version of 4). Better visuals, more mini games and features, built out online experience but essentially the same game. Nintendo actually took risks with Mario and Zelda and completely tore up Metroid Prime 4 and restarted development because it wasn't going to be good enough, which cost them 5+ years.

Everything you're saying about the companies being greedy and screwing over consumers with subscription models, DLC and other pay to play crap is 100% true but that doesn't mean people should punish themselves by sitting out altogether. And the difference is that Nintendo approaches development from the perspective of, "we need to make the best possible game, that will make us the most money." Companies like Rockstar and Activision are thinking, "how can we make sure there are tons of micro transactions and subscriptions cooked into this game?" I will concede that Nintendo's obsession with remakes lately is pure greed, at face value, but the fanboys lap them up like thirsty dogs, so how is it not win-win?

I went through a several year period of video game apathy starting around 2015 when console graphics plateaued and all games started feeling exactly the same, and those things haven't changed, but there are great games being made (albeit not as frequently) and there is still a huge catalog of older games to enjoy, no one has played everything. I have a Switch and I will buy Nintendo's new stuff that interests me but for the most part I've been emulating on my Retroid 4 Pro, so it is possible to both support Nintendo and give them a 'fuck you' for their greed. I mean I'm obviously not going to track down the GameCube games I want at some ridiculous markup on eBay and if Nintendo is going to make its catalog that inaccessible, or hide it behind a paid subscription system, I'll just emulate.

The PS5 pro is a joke for many reasons but if Nintendo thinks they are gonna repeat the success with the aging switch hardware by making a successor with PS4 pro power well I to the late 2020's they are out to lunch, they need to make a significant upgrade to keep up with the demands of modern games. I personally think Alot of Sony fans will be migrating to PC after this middle finger Sony gave to its userbase.
