Yea he’s as household of a name as it gets. Never seen the movie, but Sayers names comes up in any conversation when comparing running backs to the G.O.A.T, OJ Simpson.

I’d compare a football fan not hearing of Gale Sayers to NBA fans never hearing of Oscar Robertson.
You misspelled Jim Brown. OJ was a "nice" running back.

Interestingly... Brown's final season overlapped Sayers' rookie season.

Brown: 1,544 yards / 5.3 avg / 21 total TDs
Sayers: 867 yards / 5.2 avg / 20 total TDs

It was a career high for both in TDs... Sayers never got above 10 TDs the rest of his career. And topped out at 1,231 rushing yards.
Brown was a freak for the time. He was a very large running back for the era, and a punishing runner who could get the hard yards, but he also reportedly ran a 4.2 40 in college. His big seasons were in both the 12 and 14 game season eras and he retired at 29, still at the top of his game.

Jim Brown's 1,527yds in just his 2nd season in the league would have led today's NFL 3x since 2015, and is right up there with Derrick Henry's 1,540 last season. And Brown did it in 3 fewer games. Just insane.

I'm a very casual fan of football. It's why I don't do fantasy football. I really don't follow it close enough. I watch almost every Seahawks game but don't really branch out further than that.

RIP Gayle Sayers. My dad often told me about him.

To be fair, I don't think Karl is even an American.

Nor a man.

He's a weenie lil girlie child with left-leaning political tendencies. That's the only reasonable explanation for him not knowing who Gale Sayers is.

When I was a kid and started reading for pleasure I pretty much only read sport books, and my grade school library was old as dirt, so I was probably the youngest kid in America who could give you a meaningful report on Jack Twyman or Joe Fulks.

To be fair... it could be worse.

All one would have to do is mention LeBron James or Orlando culinary delights... and TDK and Artism will come running.

One of the best running backs I had ever seen. I hated him.

Wanted a break and saw my way out.

Turns out I missed you all too much so I came back. It's like an abusive relationship.
