Would you rather die from fire, or fall from skyscraper?

Talk about anything here.

Fall from a skyscraper into a fire would be a win win. :P

Fire, no way in hell am I going to jump. If I ever worked in a high-rise, I will take a few lessons in jumping out of airplanes, take a parachute to work, if something ever happened, would basically do a BASE jump. I would be a legend. Then probably questioned for 2 weeks for why I had a parachute.

That's almost a great idea. Only problem, the practicing of jumping out of planes. I would never voluntarily jump out of or off of anything. I'd maybe watch some tutorials of the exact model chute I have, and be sure to know what when and where to pull for a safe jump in that death defying moment if ever needed. But an actual practice jump, I'll pass on that.

These are the things we need to discuss. It's a grisly subject, but one we need to get out of the way in case we're ever in a situation where this choice needs to be made.

Anyone see the video (on liveleak) of a driver who was burning alive after he was rammed by a truck and his car light up ? Some pedestrian tried to put out the fire with a cheap hose and all you can hear is the burning man crying/yelling in agony. Horrible. He survived but now looks like Freddy Kruger.

My biology teacher in high school said that you won't feel anything much because your nerves are quickly burned off...yeah...OK.

I'll take the skyscraper for $500 Alex.
I burned a couple of fingertips to 2nd degree. Worst pain I have ever had.

I remember seeing the old Faces of Death video - a guy lights himself on fire outside a nuclear power plant.
A few seconds after he does it you can see that he realized what a mistake he made and he starts running around.
I couldn't watch

Um... just why the hell did he light himself on fire to begin with?

The person who brought up 9/11 has a point. The actual heat and fumes were so intense that people opted to jump off of the World Trade towers instead of being burned to death.

considering that he lit himself on fire, I doubt there was much logic involved.

i guess you would have to specify how intense of a fire. forest fire with 200 ft flame lengths burning >2000 degrees would vaporize any soft tissue you have damn near instantly. smoke and heat do suck, and make you pretty panacky if youve never really experianced it before, but getting put in the middle of the scenario i just described would be nothing like the world trade center.

i'm shocked to here so many people are afraid of heights in this thread.

if i had to choose it would be to fall from a skyscraper

great view, I would think it would be less painful, and doesn't last as long.
