Lakers need to do the same thing to Kobe. SVG already has the statement prepared for you.
"Our team has not performed the way we had expected throughout the first third of the season and adjustments need to be made in terms of our focus and direction," coach and team president Stan Van Gundy said in a released statement. "We are shifting priorities to aggressively develop our younger players while also expanding the roles of other players in the current rotation to improve performance and build for our future. As we expand certain roles, others will be reduced. In fairness to Kobe, being a 19-year veteran in this league, we feel it's best to give him his freedom to move forward. We have full respect for Kobe as a player and a person."

Kobe is a life long Lakers...Lakers has too much class to disrespect a player like Kobe status.

Difference here is if the Lakers waive Kobe their fanbase (many times bigger than the Pistons worldwide) will revolt. Watts Riots? Rodney King Verdict? Amateurs. Here, it's just Josh fucking Smith. It's not like this is 1988 and the Pistons are cutting Isiah.

Yeah Kobe's stunting Wayne Ellington's development the way Josh Smith was stunting Greg Monroe's.
