Mayor Kevin Johnson formally unveiled drawings of the new Sacramento Kings arena to an audience of community leaders today and declared that city officials believe they can keep a proposed public vote on the arena subsidy off the ballot.

Speaking at the annual State of Downtown breakfast at Memorial Auditorium, the mayor said the proposed $258 million public subsidy for the arena “will leverage an estimated $1 billion in private investment” and rejuvenate the central city.

Speaking to reporters later, Johnson expressed confidence that the courts would uphold City Clerk Shirley Concolino’s rejection last week of petitions demanding a public vote on sports subsidies. While Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork gathered enough signatures, Concolino said the wording on the petitions was legally flawed. STOP has indicated it will sue.

“Our city attorney feels very good about our case,” Johnson said.

Gotta adapt to your audience.

A lot of posters have had to adapt. There are other, better forums to discuss basketball.

I would suggest that you read how I correctly countered the notion that Steve Nash would create the same effect for the Lakers as he had done for the Suns, or that Nash would improve Kobe Bryant's field goal percentage.
