Curry is a product of this pathetic era, great shooter but isn't special at any other aspect of the game. He'd be a shooting specialist in the 90's bc he's soft and wouldn't be able to handle the physical defenses from back then. He's very overrated.

Yeah....little 5'10" Michael Adams can average 26.5/10.5 for the 90-91 season, but Steph Curry is gonna struggle.

5'6" 140 LB Spud Webb is gonna peak at 16.0 PPG in 91-92, but Steph Curry is gonna struggle.

Great shooter from half court in, great handles, excellent vision, great basketball IQ but he'd struggle in the 90s??Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 8:09 amYeah....little 5'10" Michael Adams can average 26.5/10.5 for the 90-91 season, but Steph Curry is gonna struggle.![]()

Funny how "volume" of shots suddenlt isn't a factor when you/others use 3-point shooting to dis Jordan, who averaged just 1.5 Attempts per game for his career. I guess these things are only relevant when it suits your narrative, eh?Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 11:35 pmIt's not an excuse to point out that shooting closer to the rim is easier (all else equal) than shooting from farther away.
Or that the volume and complexity of today's threes are significantly greater than the 1990s.
Or that the line was not nearly as guarded in the 90s as it today (for shooters).
If Steph Curry shot 1 or 2 open premium threes a game, he would likely shoot about 85 percent. That's what the quantum analytics say.

Also... the idea that the line is "guarded" tougher today is a Myth because defenders aren't allowed to lay a finger on the shooter AND there's never been more perimeter spacing, meaning it's much easier to get your shots off in this era than it was in the 90s, when defenders were allowed to make all sorts of perimeter contact AND the floor was much more congested with players.
What does "quantum analytics" say about those intangible facts...?

"Today's NBA is soft, the Defense is weak, and the rules 'really' favor the Offense."
"Lebron doesn’t guard for a full game and our game plan was to get him to play defense and he left me open all game."

You gotta make up your mind. Either the interior is open....or the perimeter is open. You've spoken of both, numerous times. You can't have it both ways.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:24 pmFunny how "volume" of shots suddenlt isn't a factor when you/others use 3-point shooting to dis Jordan, who averaged just 1.5 Attempts per game for his career. Curry would struggle to make a Starting spot for the simple fact that he plays ZERO Defense... and in the 90's if you didn't play Defense you didn't play.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 9:46 am Mark Price was All-NBA 4 times during the Jordan era....but Curry is gonna struggle.![]()

I said the defenders can't touch you on the perimeter, which makes it much easier for the shooter to get off a shot. Also, when there's as much spacing on the floor as there is today, it's virtually impossible to double team.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:25 pmYou gotta make up your mind. It's an absolute FACT that the rules in place today heavily favor the Offense... you guys can kick and scream all you want to the contrary, but you can't change the truth.

Re: Four (4) of the Top ten (10) 3-point shooters of All-Time played in the 90's...
Here's a high scoring game from Mark Price. Take note of all the "hands on", tough, perimeter defense being played.
Shit, at one point they sluffed off Price to leave him wide open in order to double team a PF 22 feet from the basket. Dumb ass defense, lol. Not once did I see Price get "hand checked" in the entire video.
Meanwhile, here's Curry dropping 52 the other night. A few times he has a 7 footer with a hand in his face at the arc. A few times there were TWO defenders flying at him. He did get a couple open shots....when he was jacking 30 footers.

Rob pulling out the heavy artillery... a randon, cherry-picked 3-minute clip of one (1) game.
C'mon man, be better.

PS: I watched the first five (5) shots from the Curry clip...

Here is 5'10" Michael Adams TORCHING one of the best defensive teams of the 80's. Count the layups, folks.....there were EIGHT of them by that midget.

Here's a great video. Larry Bird, arguably the greatest shooter of his era. I want you to pay close attention to any time he takes a shot from outside 18 feet. He is never even TOUCHED on those plays. Not a light hand....nothing. A couple times they even lay off him just to let him take an open 3.
This is fucking embarrassing, TDK.

I can keep finding these videos for days and days, TDK. Defense was shit back then. I don't give a shit how many times you show me a video of some goon like Laimbeer throwing a russian sickle on someone.
Outside of downright dirty, non-basketball plays....the defense was complete shit.

So now we're bringing up the 80's...???
...and FTR, Defense didn't really become a focal point of the game until the late 80's with the Bad Boys, and that "Defense first/Defense wins Championships" mindset then carried on into the 90's/00's.
None of this is a mystery if you know the history of the game OR were around at the time to witness it firsthand, rather than relying of cherry-picked 3 minute video clips.

All videos I posted were from 1990 or beyond. And they aren't cherry picked other than me searching "Mark Price high scoring game" and "Michael Adams high scoring game". The Bird clip happened to come on right after the Adams clip.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:58 pm So now we're bringing up the 80's...???

This is my personal favorite. Jordan being left alone on ALL SIX 3-point makes in a FINALS game. I thought the defenses dialed it up in the Finals? No??? They literally don't even try to guard your "GOAT".

Defense from the late 80's - 00's was VASTLY superior to today's soft/weak crap... and again, don't take my word for it, just ask the Commissioner, the VP of Ops, the best Defensive player today, and many other current players/coaches.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:56 pm I can keep finding these videos for days and days, TDK. I'd rather trust my eyes. The defense was slow to react, lacking complexity and weak. Way too many open jumpers. Way too much time spent favoring the drive rather than covering the arc.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 2:05 pmDefense from the late 80's - 00's was VASTLY superior to today's soft/weak crap... and again, don't take my word for it, just ask the Commissioner, the VP of Ops, the best Defensive player today, and many other current players/coaches.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 1:56 pm I can keep finding these videos for days and days, TDK. get that weak/soft shit outta here:
