Playing 20 plus years and putting up good stats is becoming the new norm. Kevin Durant will be there soon. Chris Paul is already there. Harden will get there soon.

It isn’t a Lebron phenomenon but mostly a league wide phenomenon based on a confluence of variables.

Through 16 seasons Lebron had played in 140 more regular season games and 69 more playoff games than Durant.

They are not the same.

Modern medicine and player's knowledge on body maintenance has vastly improved but even still LeBron's longevity stands out amongst his own peers.

Look at his draft class and tell me how many players are still in the league, let alone playing at an All-Star level.

What LeBron is doing is unprecedented.

When you play Tree Stump Defense (for a decade) in a zero-contact Era, and combine that with once-in-a-generation God-given genetics and PED abuse, it becomes super easy to extend your career.

Only 11 players have made it 20 seasons… only two have made it to 22 seasons. Next season if Lebron plays will be a record breaking 23 seasons.

It is most definitely a “Lebron phenomenon”.

Frankly, even framing Lebron's longevity in terms of years is somewhat misleading, given how deeply his teams have made playoff runs on average compared to other superstars.

Framing it in terms of minutes played actually slants things even more in his direction as an accomplishment.

Regular Season Minutes:
LeGOAT - 57,091 (2nd All Time, 355 behind Kareem)
Next highest active players:
Chris Paul - 43,373
Russell Westbrick - 39,404
Kevin Durant - 39,321

Playoff Minutes:
LeGOAT - 11,858 (Most All Time by almost 2,500 minutes)
Next highest active players:
Kevin Durant - 6,893
Al Horford - 6,295
James Harden - 5,992

:mjlaugh:

Comparing LeBron's longevity to any of his peers is comically dumb.

Lebron will (likely) pass KAJ for minutes played (regular season) later this year.

Lebron is BY FAR the leader in playoff minutes played. In fact, it's so wacky, that you can come up with silly looking comparisons like this:

Total playoff minutes played:

Lebron - 11,858

Ray Allen & Chris Paul combined: 11,506
Robert Parish & James Worthy: 11,474
Kevin McHale & Olajuwon: 11,465
Curry & Klay combined: 11,322
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

Durant is 36. Chris Paul is 39. That's quite a bit away from 45.

All those Playoff minutes logged YET only three (3) legit Championships in 22 years.
