Christianity is not Frank’s boogeyman. It’s cultural marxism, and they’re winning on all levels of government. But the man was correct almost 40 yrs ago.

I don't agree with all his views of course, but Zappa was a true genius... take the song "I'm The Slime", which he wrote over 50 years ago when TV consisted of just 5-6 channels:

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set
You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help, no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold
That's right, folks
Don't touch that dial
Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, look at me go
I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, look at me go
"Today's NBA is soft, the Defense is weak, and the rules 'really' favor the Offense."

"Lebron doesn’t guard for a full game and our game plan was to get him to play defense and he left me open all game."

It feels mostly like things are beyond saving and will only continue to get worse with the advent of AI, dominance and control of megacorporation's over farming and medicine, legislation of speech and privacy in more and more countries, etc.

Sadly, I tend to agree. Much of the economy is controlled by corporations that have big vested interests in feeding us ultra processed crap, getting us addicted to non productive and downright destructive social media, and providing symptom relief health care as opposed to real long term solutions. It will eventually crater on itself.

In my humble opinion, the stock market will be a rocket, or the Titanic after the election. I fear the worse.

Might go up, might go down - way to go out on a limb!!

Kidding aside, often, market movement is noise. It doesn't reflect fundamental values. Eventually, math always wins and values approach underlying value, but pendulums can swing wildly away from underlying value for extended periods.

That's not what KUB and I are talking about ITT though. We have fundamentally allowed the economy to be dominated by a limited number of corporations that have vested interests in continuing to feed us crap, keeping us essentially sedentary, and then charging us too much to treat various and sundry symptoms that arise from the first two conditions. It is difficult to see how that chain ever gets broken.

Same corporations that trade on the stock exchange?

It's enough to make me consider voting for RFK. He isn't just beating the drum the loudest on these issues, he is the only mainstream figure talking about it whatsoever. I'm praying he joins Trump and gets a job in the administration with real power. But sadly I'm not even convinced that a President who made this their sole agenda could make a difference at this point, there's no turning back the clock or unraveling the mechanisms that led us here. There is no way to convince these corporations to put people ahead of profits and there is no way to legislate away the problem even if you wanted to.
