It's insane how weak sports were across the board during that era, with no exceptions.

I remember when Billy Wagner was considered special because he hit 100. These days most bullpens have at least 1 or 2 guys with better stuff than Wagner.

Michael Jordan's contest dunks that he got 50s for are literally being performed by 12 year olds in 2024.

Did you see the one where he stuck his tongue out, and turned his body somewhat sideways while jumping high in the air? Wow!!

If that little kid was born in hawks era he wouldn't be able to do a 900 and it would be impressive if he could land a kickflip. Hawk dominated his era just like Jordan did, none of his peers were able to land a 900, and actually great company to be in with Jordan. Comparing eras is absolutely moronic bc in 20 years people will be saying the same shit about the modern heroes you think are so great. Someone has to set standards in order for the game to evolutionize and hawk/jordan were able to do that.

During that time when didn’t see the future. Who was doing those dunks along side him? Exactly

Dr.J/David Thompson were doing the same thing 10 years earlier, and Nique was doing better dunks in literally every single dunk contest and in game situations. Drexler was doing similar things. The Chicago contest was literally rigged for him to win, when he should have gotten 3rd or even 4th that year.

Anyone who claims Jordan was a great contest dunker is someone who can be immediately dismissed as a non-thinking NPC.

He is literally not top 100 all-time.

You know old dunk contests can be found on YT and similar places right?

Do you think you're going to be able to bluff on this? lol

Someone who lies about something that is completely trivial (dunk contest skill) is someone who simply can't be trusted to tell the truth on important things that actually matter.

I remember seeing this as a kid thinking how cool is this. It had everyone in it. Hawk, Cabellero, Gonzalez, Mountain, Powell, etc

I get the reason for the league pushing mj but the 90s would look a lot better going forward if the would have gotten behind Olajuwon.

Being completely fair and objective, Hakeem made sure his shoes were sold cheaply so everyone could buy and violence around the shoe was minimal or non-existent, while Jordan led to kidnapping and torture of thousands upon thousands of Chinese slaves, including children, in order to sell for triple digits and get a 10th mansion.

We live in a fallen world, sadly.

And today’s athletes are soft as tissue. Cool
How we can make claims about both eras.

A 93 mph fastball was considered “heat” back then.

That’s a circle change today.

Skate boarding tricks are insane now. I'll see someone do a street trick and I have to re-watch it 20 times to even figure out how it was possible. And 20 years from now that trick will probably look fairly pedestrian.

Every receiver in football can make a 1 handed catch now. Lots of guys throw a baseball over 100 mph. 7 footers can shoot 3's with ease, etc.

Sports constantly evolve. Each generation gets better because they are exposed to more difficult tricks or techniques at a younger age....thanks to the people who came before them. It's a constant 1 up until so many people can do it, it's just considered the norm. That's just the way it works....except with basketball for some reason.
