Magic wouldn't be getting blown out. They are the tougher matchup for the celtics

Re: Look how bad the Cavs are
Today's NBA is loaded with mediocrity, with a handful of really bad teams, a handful of good teams, and a couple/few very good teams... but not a single great or elite or GOAT level team to be found though.
Of course that's because the league is watered down... 30 teams / 18-man rosters... 540 players in the NBA means the talent is spread out way too thin. That's nearly 200 more players than the league had during the 90's, and only one (1) additional team has been added.
Talk about a watered-down league... and hell, just look at the production (or lack thereof) teams are getting from their first-round picks. It takes the average first-rounder 3-4 years in the NBA before they start producing at the level of those same picks in the 90's because those kids went to College for 3-4 years, and were MUCH better prepared for the NBA than all these 18-19 year olds coming right out of HS... as if they all think they're Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett.
Anyway, I digress.
The point: This era is grossly over-rated.

the whole point of a playoff series is to decide who is better. Cavs won

Magic would have murdered the celtics.
The magic never let the cavs score anywhere near that much much less win on their floor

im done with tatum and brown. those dudes are never serious. they dont have a high iq nor do they have the psychotic hunger needed to win championships. I forsee them folding the moment a decent team provides any sort of pressure to them. and the cavs is not descent. they are a C+ team at best.

Re: Look how bad the Cavs are
It's definitely frustrating to watch the Celtics continue to have these dips, and not slam the door shut in individual games/series against inferior teams and let them continue to have life, etc...
It's one reason why I'll never consider Tatum a megastar until he actually overcomes this and leads them to a championship.
Competing to be "in the mix" and winning more often than not is a different animal to knowing how to close and control games against meaningfully good competition.
The Celtics shouldn't be in a situation where they lose as a function of talent until they play the West. Losing before that point would be extremely disappointing.

Celtics had lost 4 games at home during the regular season. Now they've been roughed up twice at home in the playoffs.

30 teams / 15-18 man rosters = 450-540 players = more watered-down than ANY other era in NBA history resulting in zero (0) elite, or truly great teams. Case in point: The defending Champs and the #1 seed in the league both got humiliated on their Home court against LOWER seeded / mediocre competition (in the case of the Cavs).
The "standard for greatness" in this Era has declined BECAUSE the overall talent pool is watered-down, weakening the product... or did you already forget how the Commissioner, the VP of Ops, the best Defensive player in the game, and several other (current) players and coaches just ripped the shit out of this era for being weak and soft?
Or do you really think you know more about the state of the league than they do?
C'mon gizz... take your head out of your ass.

Your numbers are completely meaningless you retard. What matters are the top 8-10 guys on any team. And the top 8-10 on any team now are so VASTLY superior to those 8-10 guys from the 90s that they aren't even in the same area code. There are more good to great players now by a country mile.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 3:50 pmSorry meatball, but it's true._Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 3:01 pmAn unbelievably stupid take.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 2:34 pm The Modern NBA = A Parity of Watered Down Mediocrity.

Sorry meatball but the simple truth here is that your memory is failing you in your old age, as you're clearly confusing the talent and skill level during your Glory Days (of the 50's and 60's) with the 90's.
Furthermore you believe Russell is the GOAT (lolol) because of his Defense YET you ignore what the League/Players/Coaches said about today's weak/soft Defense AND you give today's stars a pass for playing lackluster or downright shitty Defense AND you refuse to admit that said lackluster/shitty Defense plays a sgnificant role in why the players today (including those 8th - 10th men) put up better "stats" than other eras.
Fact is there's not a player from the 1990's who wouldn't put up better Offensive stats in today's wide-open, run-gun, zero-contact, soft Defense, chuck-chuck-chuck away NBA.
Stay mad.

But the reality is 75% of 90s players would not even make a roster in today's NBA.
Conversely, 11th and 12th guys on the bench of many teams today would easily be rotation guys in the 90s. The talent level is just hugely higher.
