I know you can't stand him, but you acknowledge his greatness, but to me, Ovechkin will always play in Sid the Kid's shadow. They are pretty much as close to contemporaries as you can be, and Sid's beacon shone brighter.

I have been quoted saying I think you could argue Crosby is the 3rd greatest player ever. He's better and greater than Alex is but Alex is still a great player. I certainly don't think he's overrated as Stars is saying.

I disagree wholeheartedly. One individual can't cover all areas of hockey at once (offense, defense, and goaltending).

You need a good team around a great player to see playoff success and championships.

I think you genuinely have to bring the age factor into it. I know hockey can get players lasting into their 40s & even 50s but not every star can be like a Jagr or Howe. Even Gretzky was sorta washed by 38 his last season. But yeah not much in terms of playoff wins with him. Mr. First & Second round exit.
