The leap from World to Galaxy is so, so much more vast than the leap from Galaxy to Odyssey, or even whatever the next main release in the franchise is. It really speaks to how much games have plateaued, there was a big plateau hit in the PS3/360/Wii generation in terms of imagination, and then a big plateau hit graphically in about 2015.

With that being said, Odyssey is a masterpiece and there are still great games being made. But there's not much more games can do to innovate until AR/VR become more commercially viable. Even GTA 6, all it will be is a bigger version of GTA 5 with more depth and better visuals and some more mini games or features, it will not be revolutionary in the way that GTA IV was.
