The Magic couldn't even manage a playoff appearance from their return in the Dwight trade. Fleeced like bitches.

There are a bunch of old school trades where people got taken advantage of even worse than this, usually involving HOF-level players.

The rights to Dirk being traded for the rights to Tractor Traylor is a funny semi-recent one.

Not to pick on Orlando, but it's the one that jumped into my head immediately for the Pistons.....seemed like nothing at the time, but sending Grant Hill to Orlando and getting Ben Wallace back in return ended up being huge for the Pistons.

Shaq to Miami worked out fairly well for both teams. By 2009 both teams picked up a chip.

Without a doubt, in my less than humble opinion, the greatest trade in NBA history was orchestrated by Red Auerbach.

He traded all star Center Ed Macauley and 6 time future all star Cliff Hagan to the St. Louis Hawks in exchange for the draft rights to one William Felton Russell. While Macauley and Hagan had very nice careers with multiple all star appearances, Bill Russell was to became the greatest winner in NBA history. Congratulations Red.

Some scrub center for Scottie Pippen is pretty good.
