Silly sadmess thinks he's clever by posting clips of a game when Kobe came off the bench and scored 16 (of those 33) points in the 4th Quarter while Jordan was resting on the bench (and Pippen not even playing), in what was a 20+ point Bulls rout.

PS: Rod Strickland averaged 14-PPG for his career against MJ and the Bulls... and Strickland was a lightning quick PG who MJ guarded only in spurts. Also notice how Jordan actually "defended" Strickland, unlike LeCommie's pussy Defense against Rose, where he simply stood 5 feet away to take away Rose's dribble and force him to shoot long jumpers.

Pippen bailing Jordan out of being abused defensively was a common sight.

That's why Pippen and Jordan were co-leaders of the Bulls: Pippen led the defense and Jordan led the offense.

Congrats on the distinction.

Had Phil never switched Scottie onto Magic.....Jordan may never have reached the peaks he did.

Great job Phil!

Jordan was no better than the third-best (Pippen/Grant, Pippen/Rodman) defensive player on his own team during his pair of threepeats.

When he had to lead the defense before Pippen arrived to save the day (1988), the Bulls team defenses were ranked 20/23, 23/23, and eventually average (11/23).

Pippen shows up in 1988 and what happens?

Boom. 3rd in the league overnight, with a *rookie* Pippen

https://www.basketball-reference.com/te ... /1988.html

"But but but...Jordan led that in 1988"

Oh. Well what do you know? In 1994, with NO Jordan at all, the Bulls were 6th/27, and a 7th/27 rank in their previous season with Jordan.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/te ... /1994.html

And oh look! Another "coincidence"...once Jordan left the protective defensive cocoon of Pippen/Grant/Rodman, he led his team a 21/29 ranking and 18/29 ranking.

Even for the undisputed, irrefutable GOAT Michael Jordan (who was closer to "perfection on the basketball court" than any other player in league history) it's a LOT to ask for him to carry the Offense AND the Defense for 48 minutes... I mean, LeCommie never carried the Defense period, so you LeTots should understand.

Amirite??

Anyway... yeah, it probably was a good idea for Phil to put Pippen on Magic "for spurts" throughout the series. After all, we are talking about the greatest PG in NBA history, who was 6'9 to boot! This is not like a little shrimp like JJ Barea shutting down a 6'8 athletic freak LeCommie in the Finals, you know.

Perfect basketball players don't require a top 30 all-time player to win a playoff series.

Perhaps, but they only need one (1) other All-Star teammate to 3-Peat.

It matters when there is an obvious correlation to TEAM defense. Bill Russell WAS the difference maker.....and it yielded 11 championships.

In the case of Jordan vs. Pippen.....it would appear that PIPPEN was the difference maker.

Pippen was certainly MJ's equal of the Defensive end. I've never denied that... but if you believe Pippen was the difference maker on Defense AND the Bulls credit their Defense as being just as important to their 6 Championships as their Offense, then you should also agree that Pippen belongs in the same class of Defenders as Russell... and if that's the case you should have Pippen close to (if not IN) your list of Top 10 all-time greats. I mean, sure the Bulls didn't win as many Rings as the Celtics BUT Pippen, in addition to being in Russell's class as an impact defender, was also a MUCH better Offensive player than Russ.

So yeah... Pip = Top 10 all-time.

You (and bush) should agree with that logic.

IF you want to make Pippen top 10 all-time....is severely detracts the credit MJ receives.

So, sure....let's call Pip top 10 all-time. That means Jordan IS NOT the GOAT. I mean....HOW MUCH HELP DID MJ NEED?!!?!?!???!

To be fair, they did replace Jordan in 1994 with the great Pete Myers though.

The lack of a major drop from 93 to 94 is the single biggest stain on Jordan's legacy. Those two teams looked pretty identical, statistically.....and record-wise.

There should have been a HUGE drop if Jordan was as important as we're led to believe. There wasn't.

The 1989 Celtics dropped 15 games without old man Bird.

The 2011 Cavs dropped 150 games without peak Lebron

The 1970 Celtics dropped 14 games without ancient Russell

The 1994 Bulls dropped 2 games without nearly peak Jordan

No no no... it's not "if I" want to call him Top 10. He's not. But according to "your" logic about Bill Russell (who is in every fans Top 5, and many have him Top 3 and even the GOAT), then Pippen should easily be Top 10 all-time.

I would disagree with you though.
