How do you rank the GOAT Houston Rockets?
Has to be:
1. Hakeem. 2 rings + 2 MVPs
2. Moses 2 MVPs + 1 Finals appearance
3. Harden 1 MVP + flashy stats & 0 Finals
Right? Hakeem's still the team's all-time leading scorer, by a considerable margin over Harden.

Harden isn't worth one fine hair on Hakeem's ass.

Dream had a LOT of help ..
Plus he played against a very inexperienced team in the finals

Maybe Yao or even Elvin Hayes? Calvin Murphy made the HOF but his numbers & trophy case aren't great.

A 6-seed down 2-1 in a best of 5, then down 3-1 in a Bo7 that went on to sweep a team with HCA & the best record on the East had "a lot of help." Okay. Whatever makes you sleep better at night.

Magics most experienced player was Horace Grant

I don't think anyone here thinks Harden > Dream.
They're trolling if so.

If it wasn't clear, the point i was making was just how wide the gulf is between the two.PhutureDynasty wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 10:00 pmI don't think anyone here thinks Harden > Dream.

The gulf is still not enough, more like oceans.vcsgrizzfan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 5:51 pmIf it wasn't clear, the point i was making was just how wide the gulf is between the two.PhutureDynasty wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 10:00 pmI don't think anyone here thinks Harden > Dream.

Re: How do you rank the GOAT Houston Rockets?
Moses Malone shot 40 percent from the floor and 69 percent from the line in the 1981 NBA Finals. Obviously with no threes.
James Harden shot 42 percent from the floor and 89 percent from the line in the 2018 WCFs (the "real" Finals if you will). With 19 made threes.
The 1981 Rockets lost in 6 to the 1981 Celtics.
The 2018 Rockets lost in 7 to the 2018 Warriors, who were miles and miles beyond the 1981 Celtics, even era-adjusted.
The Rockets were a SUB .500 team during the Moses Malone era (78-82, roughly).
The Rockets won at a 52+ game pace during the Harden era (13-20).
Harden has 115 win shares as a Rocket.
Malone has 70 win shares as a Rocket.
Lots of double-standards going on here. Sad to see.

Re: How do you rank the GOAT Houston Rockets?
Dream is arguably Top 10 all-time, and he played 17 of his 18 years for the Rockets... he's Houston's GOAT by as wide a margin as MJ / Bulls, maybe more, if that seems even possible.
The real question is, who is #2...? It's clearly between Harden and Moses.
Harden
8 seasons
30 / 6 / 8 / 2.0 / 44% / 36% / 86%
1 MVP
6 All NBA selections (6 First Team)
Playoffs: 8 times (3 first round, 3 Semi's, 2 WCF appearances... lost to the eventual NBA Champs 3 times)
Moses
6 seasons
24 / 15 / 1.5 / 1.0 / 1.6 / 51% / 74%
2 MVP's
4 All NBA selections (2 First Team) / 1 Second Team Defense)
Playoffs: 4 times (2 first-round exits, 1 Semi, 1 Finals appearance... lost to the eventual NBA Champs 1 time)
Career-wise I'll take Moses all day over Harden, but during their tenure as Houston Rockets it's a lot tougher. Moses had the additional MVP and the All Defense selection, but Harden actually had more team success and his advanced stats are better.
Tough call, but I'll go with Moses by a hair.
