I'm pretty sure we've discussed credit scores here before...

Last time I checked, I was right around 800. But the Gal Pal was slightly higher. Why? I make more money. I have more things in my name. I have more credit, hence, more positive credit history. I'm even older, so I've had good credit for longer.

She gets the higher score? Is it simply because she's a chick and has nice cans?
I don't think "nice cans" is in the credit score algorithms.

Well... I can't think of any other reasons.

Back 06' my wife, my 3 kids and I took a cruise to the Bahamas...we got a huge room, balcony, all of it...plus, we spent a couple more weeks in Florida to boot...That trip ended up costing us about 12G's all together, all on the credit card...we paid it all off within a year...
Otherwise, I don't carry any credit card debt...Outside of my mortgage, I am 100% debt free, and it feels great...
We're close to that again. But the wedding last year cost a lot and it's tough with the wife being laid off past 6 weeks - but we're still making progress.

Is the Mrs. laid off permanently... or on furlough?

Either way, that sucks. But she's definitely not alone. We're going to see more and more and more...

Try being in HR right now. The questions rolling in are non stop.

I wouldn’t be shocked to find out Abe has a marijuana habit low key. Alright maybe not a habit, but he definitely has a weed pen/cartridge kit that he breaks out sometimes over a few beers with the boys.

You don’t have to confirm or deny, Abe. Just know that, it’s understood.

Ha. I'm sure I've told you... my professional post-college career started in a HR-esque role... and then I was offered a job in HR at a hospital.

I turned down the gig and hightailed it to Europe instead for a couple of months. And when I came back, I switched careers into what I'm still doing today.

Arty-eque tangent aside: I can't even imagine what you're dealing with...

She's a bartender, so it will be a long time before any type of normalcy returns to her income. In theory, if her place of business survives this, she will have her old job back.

Fortunately, she was already in year 2 of her schooling, and they've obviously shifted to an online only approach. So she's able to concentrate more on her schooling, rather than in addition to 30+ hours of work. So, it's not ALL bad.

Using Abe's theory on the credit scores of females, her credit probably will barely skip a bit. Pardon the assumption there, but it's not too huge a leap to uh....assume....since she's a bartender.

I was gonna ask if she claims her tips or not? If not... It would seem Hawks has his fair share of cash purchases.

This surprises me. I virtually never use cash anymore for anything. It has to be a peculiar circumstance.

For all recurring bills, I have them put on one of my credit cards which is then automatically paid (set up with my bank) the day it is due. I never pay interest to anybody for anything. I do the same in the US for my regular Arizona bills with my US bank. The points/cash back whatever might as well go to me. Don't turn down free money.

Don’t really care for the credit cards. They are the devil. Yes, we have them for vacations and such, but keep a zero balance.

I use my credit card for everything and pay it off monthly so I can build up points. I like Carl, use that towards flights or whatever. Builds fast when you make every purchase with the credit card.

I don’t really know, or care, and this is an irrelevant question in terms of making any possible point OP might be getting at.

This thread also confirms many people are pretty personal finance ignorant, which I already knew.

I checked, $34,000 on my main card, $17,500 on the backup I have in case I misplace or have to replace the main one. Never use cash unless I have to or places have fees added for using credit (common with all the small business/restaurants around NYC).

Hi Dagger. So this is right in your wheelhouse, professionally. Can you please educate some of us retards what we’re doing wrong as you’ve observed ITT. But please lift your chin as high as possible when doing it, like to the point your head is completely horizontal to your neck to drive it home.
