Could it have been a brain bleed like Riley's wife? Sometimes middle aged folks just get a sort of brain explosion with no warning.

I just have a weird feeling guys...he's 100% dead. gone. I feel for the guy now. He's remembering us in hell though, he's remembering me for sure kicking himself for not believing. He had heaven and Jesus at his fingertips but remained stubborn until his dying end.

I think he's broken from trying to "reform" Arty. He probably checked himself into a mental hospital.
