Lebron becomes undeniable #2, maybe 1b on the all time list with a win this year.

As I have said before, another title for him jumps him into the MJ, Russell, KAJ tier. Right now he's around 4 to 5 for me but he easily could be argued for 2 or 3 if he wins this one.LeBronMonsterDunk wrote:LeBron, easily.

That's fair too. I'm a little less inclined to say that but one could easily argue that.Kingcarl24 wrote:Lebron becomes undeniable #2, maybe 1b on the all time list with a win this year.

Easily Lebon. If he wins, he's top 5 All Time.
If he wins next year, he'd have 5 Titles and he's top 3 All Time.
If he wins the Year after that, he will finally have a 3peat (something Jordan did twice) and be in the discussion with Jordan for GOAT.

So 6 titles and going to the finals 9 years in a row will only put him in the discussion with Jordan? You know he's going to eclipse almost every stats record Jordan has right?

Just using the same logic that was applied to Jordan back then. When he won was winning Scoring Titles, everyone said that if he wanted to become the GOAT, he'd have to win more titles than his piers at the time. That was Bird and Magic.
When Jordan had his first 3peat, they said "fine, but Magic still has more titles than Jordan". If Jordan wanted to Surpass Magic, he had to do just that with the Titles.
When Jordan won his 6 Title after his 2nd 3Peat, Magic call Jordan the GOAT.
Why shouldn't that same logic apply Lebron?

Re: Whose legacy benefits the most from a Finals win between KD, Steph, and LeBron?
A lot of that is kind of baloney. A lot of people were hailing MJ as GOAT after the first 3 peat. The second 3peat meant that without doubt he had passed Magic, Bird etc... Outside of a lunatic fringe, very few held on to the Magic or Bird is greater than MJ narrative, certainly far fewer than after the first 3peat.Master Spade wrote:Kingcarl24 wrote:Lol....Master Spade wrote:Easily Lebon. Things are always on a curve. Currently, there is a small fringe that would place LeBron above MJ. The logic is funky and doesn't convince many. But if he were to win this year, it would be a lot more than a "fringe" that would put him in the MJ conversation. And then another ring against a strong opponent would probably mean at least half of those polled would then rate LeBron at or above MJ. Part of that would be recency bias. We, as a society, tend to 'prefer' more recent accomplishments. Human bias.
Re: Whose legacy benefits the most from a Finals win between KD, Steph, and LeBron?
Agree with this. Magic called Jordan the GOAT during the 93 finals when Jordan still only had 2 rings. Zeke alluded to Jordan being the GOAT (without flat out saying it) in 92. When they did he 50 greatest in 96 everyone knew Jordan was number 1, had 3 rings at the time. The second 3 peat was more like the icing on the cake and not the deciding factor.vcsgrizzfan wrote:A lot of that is kind of baloney. A lot of people were hailing MJ as GOAT after the first 3 peat. Jordan has set such a standard that is nearly impossible to match let alone surpass.vcsgrizzfan wrote:A lot of that is kind of baloney. A lot of people were hailing MJ as GOAT after the first 3 peat. 1. 6 Finals, 6 championships, 6 FMVPs. No superstar in this era has a perfect Finals record. Only LeBron and Kobe have been to more Finals.
2. Elite 2-way player. Jordan was the best player at his position on both sides of the ball.
3. Clutch. Jordan has so many memorable clutch shots and performances in the regular and post season. He didn't leave much room for criticism, which leaves even less room for error for anyone else to genuinely be in the discussion.
I'm a baaaddd motherfucker!!

They are if they aren't factoring in the cakewalk that has been the East, and the flat out colluding and conscious decision to stay east for said reasons on top of it...Finals "appearances" when contextualized for Bronze means jack shit to anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty, and you can take it to the bank when recency bias has passed...this will "bear out" when all is said and done. It already is/has by many of the talking heads.Kingcarl24 wrote:Because we're not idiots like those back in the 90s.Master Spade wrote:Kingcarl24 wrote:

What do you think would have happened if LeBron went to one of those amazing Western teams?Repeat3peat wrote:They are if they aren't factoring in the cakewalk that has been the East, and the flat out colluding and conscious decision to stay east for said reasons on top of it...Finals "appearances" when contextualized for Bronze means jack shit to anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty, and you can take it to the bank when recency bias has passed...this will "bear out" when all is said and done. Which team...? Less finals appearances to be sure. Throw context out the window and still, Finals 'appearances' are nothing more than a second-place finish... and nobody remembers the runner-up.Repeat3peat wrote:They are if they aren't factoring in the cakewalk that has been the East, and the flat out colluding and conscious decision to stay east for said reasons on top of it...Finals "appearances" when contextualized for Bronze means jack shit to anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty, and you can take it to the bank when recency bias has passed...this will "bear out" when all is said and done. That'll be LeBron's legacy, the "standard" he will set for himself with another Finals loss.
"Today's NBA is soft, the Defense is weak, and the rules 'really' favor the Offense."
"Lebron doesn’t guard for a full game and our game plan was to get him to play defense and he left me open all game."

I don't see how you can make an argument for anyone but LeBron.
Re: Whose legacy benefits the most from a Finals win between KD, Steph, and LeBron?
No one benefits. For those of us who really see it the way it is, these two Yellow Belly COWARD Creampuffs, colluded and took the Easy way out to NOT compete, cakewalking their way to finals because they were too pussy to do it the Alpha way and left their teams (Lebron twice) high and dry to fin the Easiest road possible.
Why do the Top 2 players in the league need MORE supporting help than any other player in the league? Can someone answer that?
Jordan did it the alpha Way. KD/Lebron are doing it the Beta Way.. Big difference.
I don't give "elite status" to COWARDS. And no one else should either
