Damn right he is better than Kareem. Kareem was a great second fiddle, but, LEADING a team to a championship, Bird did it better.

Well, I don't have a GOAT list. But I'm bigger on defense and bigs in general, I also care more about peak/prime than longevity (and am an impact guy as opposed to accolades). Bird was better from when he came into the league until 87-88. Hakeem had a ridiculous peak in 93, 94, 95 (and was exceptional defensively earlier). Oscar had a working jumpshot, and was better defensively. The offenses he ran were also as historically good as Magic's, but he had the misfortune of going against the best defender (and my GOAT) and best defensive teams ever in Russell, and no slouch at all in Wilt (who had stacked teams in Philly).

Kareem was also robbed of the Finals MVP in 1980:

Truth be told, GOAT means little. You need plenty of help and good fortune (especially with matchups).
